The Girls in Tech Melbourne crew are literally jumping up and down with excitement because Catalyst Conference is less than 2 months away.
How on earth can a year have flown by so quickly? It seems like yesterday when we were prepping the fabulous event space, packing goodie bags and wondering if it would be a success or not.
Would everyone turn up, would they get along OK? Would anyone want to learn how to code and would the group workshops be any good? Would everyone else love cheese and champers as much as we do? We put in the hours, we built it and hoped they would come. And bloody hell they did .. it was an absolute success!
We didn’t want a boring conference with bums on seats and lots of naval-gazing in the breaks. We wanted to build a community, to get women in tech talking, building networks, finding mentors, new friends and ultimately, having a bloody good time together.
They were 2 exhausting but fun-filled days. The venue and the catering were mind-blowing, (think VIP not Jeff’s Shed). All our speakers turned up (phew!) all workshops were booked and most importantly of all, our attendees loved it.
The post-event survey was absolute gold;
- 77% said Catalyst had allowed them to network and build community with their peers
- 62% were introduced to new interest areas and opportunities
- 46% felt it helped them identify new ways or approaches to advance their careers
- 42% said it provided access to resources or new opportunities for them
In fact, almost 60% said that their experience at Catalyst was valuable to them and our volunteer numbers went through the roof. Don’t just take our word for it though, we wanted to share some of the top reviews we received after Catalyst Conference 2018.
Thank you so much Catalyst team! For the first time I feel inspired to get sh*t done. You made me realise I can and I will. The atmosphere was incredible, the people inspiring, the content relevant and the venue beautiful. One of the best conferences I’ve been to.
GiT Catalyst was one of the most impactful events I’ve been to. The 2 days delivered valuable and accessible content that provide real outcomes for attendees.
Catalyst delivers a brilliant mix of learning and inspiration in a supportive, engaging environment not usually found in tech conferences.
Catalyst is a great supporter of women in the tech space. Come along and see what pioneers are doing!
The Catalyst Conference was better than I could have expected – I will be back next year!
We are can’t wait to do it all over again, with even more exciting speakers and learning opportunities -watch this space for the full line- up. Don’t miss this opportunity to create your own network and improve your career prospects. We look forward to meeting you there.
